U16 Grade 2 Championship Final
Galbally v Donaghmore
In a keenly contested and highly entertaining final, these two teams served up a ding dong battle that showed off everything that is good in ladies football. After a pulsating first half the teams went in level on 3 points at half time. Throughout the game the teams matched each other score for score when a fortuitous goal early in the second half, by Catriona Kerr for Galbally, was quickly mirrored by a goal from Donaghmore's Victoria Quinn. It was very encouraging to witness the support these two teams brought and they were well rewarded by the standard of football on display. Final Score: Donaghmore 1:6 Galbally 1:5. Scorers: Donaghmore - Victoria Quinn 1:2 Aisling Conlon :3 Cara Christie :1. Galbally - Catriona Kerr 1:2 Niamh Donnelly :1 Amy Carberry :1 Sarah Carberry :1 (Photos below) |

Friday night will mark the culmination of the Tyrone senior and Junior ladies football championships and the fayre expected to be served up by senior finalists St Macartans and Glenelly and local rivals in the junior final St Endas and Cappagh could be the perfect way to start this big championship weekend. Quality will certainly be in abundance then at Greencastle with the action getting underway at 6-45 with that junior clash. Next up though it’s the senior final with a pairing that few would have predicted at the start of the year. |
