Tyrone 4 - 06 Donegal 4 - 08 Tyrone lost their opening Under 14 championship game at Urney on Saturday to pre competition favorites Donegal. This was a very evenly matched contest and the red hand girls will have learned a lot from this experience. Only two of the Tyrone team had played in a competitive county game before, and it took this game to set them up for the rest of the championship. There were a number of very good performances on the field with Eimear McCormack notching up 2 - 1 Melissa McCann 1 - 3 Grainne Rafferty 1 - 0 and Niamh O'Neill 0 - 2 Other notable performances came from Laura Kane in goals defenders Sinead Donnelly, Aimee Arnold and Siobhan Kirk were outstanding as were the midfield pairing of Joanne Barrett and Niamh O'Neill. Up front McCormack and McCann were ably assisted by Grainne Rafferty, Maeve McElduff and sub Tami-Lee Diver with the rest of the team performing well on the day.
