Cumann Peil Na mBan Tir Eoghain

An Cumann Peil Na mBan Tir Eoghain have confirmed that all inter county management posts in the county are now vacant with prospective new managers and coaches invited to apply. The move comes as the county once again aim to firmly establish itself as a force not only in Ulster but in all Ireland competition.

Speaking at the official announcement this week county chair Ann Marie Meehan confirmed that all posts were now up for grabs with the current management teams welcome to re apply, she pointed out the reasons to go in this direction.

“ We have not had the measure of success that Tyrone as a county deserves and now as we approach integration its time we made our mark. This is a time to start a fresh while of course remembering all the past and recent honours achieved by our under age and adult teams.”

Tyrone’s underage squads have some silverware on the sideboard with an Ulster under 14 title, however boasting almost forty clubs and having one of the ladies game most organised club set ups and high membership the progress here has not been reflected by national success and the county board have moved to rectify this.

A questionnaire about the future development of football in the county is currently being prepared and the clubs will have a major say as to the direction ladies football takes right from grassroots level to the senior inter county squad, that, says the chairperson is the only way forward for the women’s game

“ We have looked at several other successful counties and we know what has to be done in terms of development, coaching and structures, we are giving the clubs a major say, they are of course the lifeblood of the association and certainly must play their part.”

Tyrone’s senior squad missed out on a place in this years Ulster final, beaten over two legs by last years all Ireland junior champions and the new girls in senior football Armagh, the management team of   John McAleer, Ryan Cunningham and Plunkett McCallan certainly put in the time and effort without return, it remains uncertain if they will re-apply. The county board though are sure that they want a vibrant approach at all levels.

“ The time has come to really get Tyrone’s inter county sides buzzing again at all levels, we will want anyone applying to be willing to give the posts 110% effort and certainly have fresh ideas as well as ability” confirmed Ann Marie.

Applicants for U-14, U-16, Minor and Senior posts are now being accepted but it’s clear that experience at inter county level would be an advantage, CVs are currently being accepted by the county secretary with September 22 nd the cut of date. Already several   applicants with a proven track record and a built in backroom team have already shown interest in the senior and minor posts.
