PADDY HUNTER

The year of 2007 will long be remembered for plenty of positives in Tyrone ladies football but sadly too there were problems in terms of getting games played, venues etc. Well everything will be down for discussion and debate next Tuesday at the splendid Cappagh facilities as the County ladies football convention goes ahead. Its expected the success and positive strides taken by the senior inter county team and the Ulster minor success of the Under 14 and minor teams will be welcomed however also up for debate and it could be a lively one will be the situation with fixtures in the County. Tyrone officials have been the first to admit that during 2007 club fixtures suffered as the county teams new look programme of games took its toll. There appears though to be some good news on the horizon with moves toward integration with the mens’ county boards fixtures committee set to help see fixtures better structured within Tyrone.

There has been quite a bit of talk too about overall integration and once again this hot topic will be discussed, as will several recommendations from clubs. In terms of change at the top table, well it appears there may be some. A new treasurer is certain with popular Jo Lynch taking a break while there will almost certainly too be a change in fixtures and the structure of the fixtures body in Tyrone.

Secretary Teresa Kelly will unveil her report on Tuesday evening and again it will be a comprehensive look back at a year that witnessed Tyrones return to the top flight in ladies football with an appearance in the all Ireland semi-final, there position in the top division for the Suzuki national league secured and already back and raring to go for 2008.

The season just past also seen the Under 14 B squad claim the Ulster crown and the minors under Martina Dillon secure their first Ulster minor title since 2000. Tyrone indeed fielded in all competitions in the year just past and Tyrone continue to be one of the most forward thinking counties in the country.

Nominations for Tuesdays agm closed at the end of December and now it will be up to the floor to take Tyrone forward into 2008
