The grade three decider will go ahead this weekend, Cappagh play Ardboe followed by the grade one final, Aodh Ruadh against An Charraig Mhor. Back though to last weekends tie and Omagh managed to battle through to claim the title they last won in 2001, a spirited performance especially against the breeze left them steer the advantage home in the second period.
Trillick though threatened to run away with the tie in the first half, they pressed home the wind advantage scoring three unanswered points, St Endas through Charmaine Gormley hit back with a point before the advantage was restored with the Donnellys on target for the home side.
Trillick at times came in swarms at the Omagh defence yet with Christiane Hunter , Gillian Privott, and Debbie Sloan on form it was a case of the attacks finally petering out .
Just before the break Kelly O’Sullivan rounded two defenders before finding the net to leave the sides level at 1-3 to 0-6, the quality full forward hitting two further points.during the half.
The breeze continued into the second half and St Endas began to get to grips with the tie, putting pressure almost continually on the Trillick defence, at midfield too Omagh started to dominate with Jenny Scott and Grainne McGale having a great battle with Sarah Donnelly who was always a constant threat for Trillick.
St Endas dominance was rewarded early in the second half though with Scott putting the ball to the net again, Further scores came from O’Sullivan who had a super game scoring a total of 1-5 while White and the Moynagh sisters also went close on several occasions.
To be fair to Trillick they never dropped their heads and again in the closing stages led a fightback, throwing everything into attack, St Endas though stood firm with Orlagh Kelly on the half back line outstanding once again. Laura Gormley at corner back sound and wing half back Leon Murphy as ever up to the mark, Trillick could not break down the defence and remained scoreless in the second half , a memorable victory in front of a large crowd for Omagh led by Ciaran Woods.
The cup was handed over by County Vice Chairman Patsy McCrory who pointed out that both teams had served up a great game of football in terrible conditions
