Under 16 Ladies suffer Ulster Final disappointment

Tyrone’s Under 16 Ladies suffered injury-time heartbreak against Monaghan in the Ulster Final as the Red Hands succumbed to a late rally to lose a cracking decider on a 4-12 to 4-11 scoreline. Tyrone had seemed certain winners, having dominated throughout, before an unbelievable last ten minutes saw Tyrone snatch defeat from the jaws of victory.

The disappointment in Emyvale marked the end of what had been a rollercoaster campaign for the Tyrone girls. Victories over Derry, Fermanagh and Cavan were followed by a defeat at the hands of eventual winners Monaghan as Tyrone completed the round robin stage top of their group. An easy win over Down in the semi-final booked Tyrone’s place in the decider with hosts Monaghan, which was to prove to be a hurdle too far for the Tyrone representatives.
