Carrickmore complete "Double"
Carrickmore bounced back from their disappointing Ulster Club exit to ensure they finished their season on a high note by capturing the Tyrone Division One League title in their final win over Aodh Ruadh in last Sundays game at Kileeshil, 2-13 to 1-09 the final score in favour of the Carmen girls.

Nine first half points set Carrickmore firmly on their way to victory, while a Niamh Mc Kernan goal was all that Aodh Ruadh had to show for their exertions in the first thirty minutes. With Carrickmore dominant across the field, scores from Claire Gallagher (3) Stacey Mc Cann (2) Elaine Coyle and Gemma Begley, and one each from midfielders Maire Grogan and Lynnette Hughes put Carrickmore in the driving seat.

Aodh Ruadh rallied at the start of the second period, and it was half time substitute Emma Conlon who inspired her side and gave them a renewed vigour going forward. The young star led by example, firing over a fine individual score which was followed by points from Carol Mc Glinchey and Claire Mc Alliskey.

With ten minutes of the second half played Aodh Ruadh were presented with their best opportunity to get back into the game. With her side in the ascendancy, Mc Glinchey gathered the ball on the edge of the square, and her rasping drive was smartly saved by Carrickmore keeper Claire Donnelly. The rebound again fell to Mc Glinchey, but the Aodh Ruadh number eleven had to watch as her shot hit the post and flew agonisingly wide.

This let-off seemed to spur Carrickmore back into life, and Hughes and Gallagher stretched their lead back to five points, before two further pointed frees from the boot of Elaine Coyle put daylight between the sides. Frankie Parks and Mc Kernan replied for Aodh Ruadh, but Etaione O'Kanes emphatic finish to the Aodh Ruadh net killed off any chance of a comeback.

Katrina Murphy was unlucky to see her strike come off the base of the Carrickmore post, and the midfielder followed up with two further points before the finish. The last word though went to Carrickmore substitute Dearbhla Mc Callan who scored her sides second goal of the day just seconds after entering the fray.

Carrickmore captain Connie Fox collected the League Shield from Tyrone Ladies Chairperson Mary Connolly at the final whistle following a victory which once again underlined the clubs current dominance of the Ladies scene in Tyrone, as their rivals are left to consider how to stop the Carrickmore juggernaut in the months to come.
