CHAMPIONSHIP DRAWS CONFIRMED IN TYRONE
As the longer evenings approach Tyrone ladies footballers are stepping up preparations for the commencement of the league and championship competitions within the county.
The 2006 season gets underway with the minor leagues on March 11th with games in all grades, next up it's the Under 14s on April 1st while the senior competition will start this year on May 20th. That all said the draws for the championships have been drawn and already some mouth watering ties will see fans turning up in droves later in the year.
In the senior championship the champions An Charraig mhor have been kept apart from beaten finalists Errigal Ciaran, though they could meet again in the decider, but there's a lot of football to be played before that. Trillick meet the champions on June 17th while Errigal play Aghyaran, Aodh Ruadh will open against St Macartans and St Dympbas making a return to senior football will take on the Intermediate double winners Glenelly.

At Intermediate level Badoney will take on promoted Cappagh in a preliminary round on June 11th while the quarter final pit the winners against Loughmacrory. Sperrin Og play Kildress and St Endas meet Moy on Friday 16th with the remaining tie on the Saturday Fr Rocks against Fintona at refurbished Beragh.

A new look junior championship with fourteen teams involved gets underway on June 10th with two games pencilled in to go ahead in the extensive first round. The success of ladies football now coming to the fore with the formation of adult sides at Edendork, Eoghain Rua, Drumquinn and Drumragh, it may make life difficult for the fixture setters however it can only be good for the game in the long term.
