TYRONE 4-15
ANTRIM 0-3
Tyrone minors eased to the Ulster championship last four at the weekend when they crushed Antrim at Cookstown.
Eased is probably the only word to describe the outing in difficult conditions, this game as a contest was over after sixteen minutes as Tyrone led 2-7 to no score. Antrim unable to stand up to an impressive well drilled Tyrone, however the home side could take little out of the tie. It was just a walk in the park with the impressive Sarah Connolly helping herself to 3-6 before being replaced on thirty five minutes.
If this had been a boxing match the referee would have stopped it very early on, Antrim were battered into submission and but for Northern Ireland ladies goalkeeper Brenda Barr the punishment would have been a lot worse.
Tyrones management duo of Ciaran Woods and Michaela O'Neill had selected their strongest possible starting fifteen and it showed as they powered into an uncatchable lead within minutes of the start.
Jolene Donnelly opened the scoring on Tyrone first attack , Claire McAliskey and Niamh McKernan added scores before Sarah Connolly netted her first goal of the day. The scene was set then really for one way traffic, Antrims only points from Claire Timoney (0-2) and Shaunna Graham as Tyrone led 2-11 to 0-3 at the break.
Connolly hit a goal and two points within the opening five minutes of the restart before being substituted, leaving her fresh for the next days senior action, indeed within the opening ten minutes all the senior/minor stars were withdrawn but those that replaced them kept up the onslaught until the death.
Antrim left with plenty to ponder Tyrone set to meet Donegal or Armagh for a place in the final but knowing next time out will be a lot harder.
