INTER COUNTY SEASON ENDS

At Inter county level the season has come to a conclusion for Tyrone teams. Sundays heavy defeat by Dublin in the All Ireland Under 16 quarter final signalled the end for another term.  Only the Ulster under 14 crown secured by the O’Neill county squads. The search though for the senior all Ireland title is on hold for at least another year,  2006 produced a semi-final defeat for senior and minor sides a Poor return though for the county that was first up to the plate when ladies football was organised in the province in 1992. Its expected though that plans for 2007 are well underway with a development plan on the cards for youth coaching in the county.

The need to develop the players at underage level has never been greater, there is the ability but it’s a case of fine tuning and honing the talent that is there. There also has been discussion over the league structures and the worrying trend that has seen several junior clubs withdraw from the division three race. Its believed a restructuring of the leagues will be outlined at the next county board meeting with the wheels already in motion to help ease problems with teams being unable to field.

ALL IRELAND FINALS

While Tyrone are out of the race for the all Ireland title Armagh and Monaghan are still very much in the hunt for a place at Croke Park in October. At the last county board meeting clubs from Tyrone were being encouraged to attend this ladies showpiece at headquarters. Clubs that are interested in going should contact the county secretary as soon as possible. Only five clubs attended last years final and for a county with one of the largest memberships in the country it was felt by the central council that a greater effort should be made.
